A hub for choice edits of relatively old gems Robag Wruhme cares to shed a new, broader light on while giving them a fresh, up-to-date facelift, Tulpa Ovi welcomes a new pair of goldies from the vaults, tweaked and tinkered to face the future a little longer.
First in line, Gustav "We Shall Overcome" - originally issued in 2006 as part of the Wighnomy Brothers / Gustav split "Okkasion EP" on Freude Am Tanzen, is given a new lease of life. Stripped back of its deep house-oriented opulence to embrace a more pared-down textural approach, this new version of the track offers a chameleonic take on the matrix, best underlining the vocals' punk-ish nature and track's overall timelessness.
2 Dollar Egg's 2004-released "Implantat" on Klang Elektronik gets a proper servicing of its vital functions courtesy of Wruhme and partner-in-crime Erik Besier. Injecting the original's jagged minimalism and clinical groove with a tang of exotica-laced funk, fauxorganic machine talk and whiffs of intoxicating pop mixed together, the pair steers us in the grey area between proprioceptive club readiness and hi-tech escapology.
