Breaking the new year in for Tulpa Ovi, here comes T.O.R.003, third number courtesy of label bossman Robag Wruhme himself. True to his silken, near-abstract touch, this new effort puts forth a pair of downtempo joints blazing with hypnotic envelopes and a subtlerthan- ever melodic impulse to wrap your ears around. The result is a sense awakening, elastic maelstrom of feelings and textures, woven with such vision that it turns each listen into a truly unique, horizon-expanding experience.
Meditative stasis-friendly, "Bortonkk_21" blends in accents of deconstructionist bass with faux-organic electronics and vaporous ambient motifs teeming with weird bleeps, bloops and other insectoid noises all magnified under Robag's laser-precise microscope. Merging an intricate skein of UK-informed stepping rhythms and sharp-edged, steely percussions, "Beta Gora" invokes the spirits of early Warp records and treats them to a cutting-edge assembly of processed vox, post-modern swagger and genre-unbound agility.
